CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman women’s lacrosse player Bri Arthur has been selected as a nominee for the America East Fans’ Choice Player of the Year. Fans can vote by liking or sharing Bri’s picture on the America East Facebook page. Each like and share counts as a vote with balloting open until Tuesday, April 29 at 4 pm EST.
Arthur, a native of Watertown, N.Y., leads the Bearcats in goals (34) and points (43). The freshman standout has been named America East Rookie of the Week twice (Feb. 24 & March 10) becoming the first Binghamton player in program history to earn a pair of conference accolades in the same season.
The ninth leading scorer in the conference has already etched her name in the programs record books establishing a new freshman record for goals, surpassing the mark set by Becky Green (30) in 2004. Arthur also has a knack for heroics with three game-winning goals in 2014. Her most recent game-winner against Quinnipiac with six seconds remaining propelled Binghamton to its sixth win of the season, a new program record for wins.
Arthur has started all 14 games for the Bearcats this season and leads the America East with 14 free position goals. The 5-foot-2 Arthur has also collected 21 ground balls which ranks third on the team.
In 2010, Ali Castigle ’11 won the women’s lacrosse America East Fans’ Choice Player of the Year award.
