Vestal, NY—

On Wednesday afternoon,  Binghamton University senior men’s lacrosse player Ben Waldron was named to the most recent 2012 Tewaaraton Award Watch List. Since 2000, the prestigious Tewaaraton Award recognizes the nation’s top male and female lacrosse player of the collegiate spring season.

Waldron, a senior from nearby Camillus, NY, earned first-team all-conference honors a season ago from the Long Stick Midfield position. The senior captain tallied a team-best 30 caused turnovers and was second in ground balls scooping up 49 on the year. In Waldron’s first three seasons, he has accumulated 132 ground balls (third in program history) in just 44 games played.  He also has five goals and eight assists in his career, but will have an increased offensive role this season thanks to the uptempo style of play implemented by first year head coach Scott Nelson.

Waldron and company will kick off the 2012 season on February 25 when the Bearcats host Patriot League member Lafayette at 1 pm on the grounds of the Bearcats Sports Complex.
