Box Score

VESTAL, N.Y.—Visiting New Hampshire (16-12, 9-7 AE) outscored Binghamton (12-17, 6-10 AE) 15-8 in overtime en route to a 59-52 win an America East Conference women’s basketball game on Saturday afternoon at the Events Center. The Bearcats will enter the upcoming America East Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will meet the host team, No. 3 Hartford, on Friday at 8:15 p.m. The Wildcats, meanwhile, clinched the No. 4 seed with the win.

After missing an open layup at the end of regulation, New Hampshire scored the first seven points of the extra session to go up 51-44 with 1:41 left to go. Morgan Frame, who had a team-high 15 points, scored four points during that span. The Wildcats then iced the game by making eight straight free throws in the final 1:16 of regulation.

“I thought we played well at times but we were tense in the offensive end,” head coach Nicole Scholl said. “It’s always tough to lose our last game at home but we now have to look ahead to the America East Tournament.”

Frame was one of three New Hampshire players to reach double figures in scoring. Denise Beliveau added 14 points and game-high 12 rebounds while Abigail LaRosa chipped in 12 points.

For Binghamton, senior point guard Andrea Holmes netted a game-high 18 points while sophomore guard Jasbriell Swain finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Binghamton appeared to take control of the game midway through the second half, going on a 15-1 tear to take a 40-31 lead with 9:16 left in regulation. Holmes had six points during that stretch.

New Hampshire, however, answered with an 11-2 run to go up 42-40 with 5:10 left to go. Beliveau led the way with four points during that span.

Senior guard Orla O’Reilly deadlocked the game at 42-42 at the 4:34 mark and Swain followed with a layup to put the Bearcats up 44-42 with 3:45 remaining. Frame, however, had the final basket in the second half, converting a layup with 1:03 remaining.

NOTES: Holmes and Frame were the America East Players of the Game.
