VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton women’s lacrosse team held it’s annual media day on Wednesday, Feb. 15 in preparation for the 2012 campaign. Head coach Tony Zostant was joined by seniors Lis Zuern and Lauren Lukefahr as they addressed questions from the local media. Binghamton begins their season on Sunday, Feb. 26 at noon as they host St. Francis (Pa.) at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
Last season, the Bearcats finished the season 4-13 and 1-5 in America East play. Binghamton just missed out on it’s first-ever postseason bid falling to New Hampshire, 12-10, in a win-and-get-in scenario in the season finale.
Zuern led the Bearcats in points last season, tally 35 goals and 15 assists for a total of 50 points. She was just the second player in BU’s short women’s lacrosse history to record a 50-point season (Becky Green, 2004). Lukefahr was a second-team all-conference choice in 2011, recording 30 ground balls and 27 draw controls.
Conference play for the Bearcats starts on March 31 when they host SUNY rival Stony Brook at noon.
