VESTAL, N.Y.—Binghamton women’s soccer extended its streak of academic achievement with accolades from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The NSCAA listed the Bearcats among its Team Academic recipients for producing a 3.0 or higher GPA during the 2012-13 school year.
Head coach Sarah McClellan’s squad had a 3.45 GPA - highest in the America East. It marked the 12th straight year that the women’s soccer program eclipsed the 3.0 threshold. Binghamton’s GPA ranked 42nd (out of 317) in Division I programs across the country, which puts the Bearcats in the top-14 percent.
The 2013 team (8-8-2) advanced to the America East quarterfinals, earning a postseason bid for the eighth time in the last 10 years.
The men’s soccer team also earned national academic honors, giving Binghamton the distinction of having both soccer programs in the elite group.
