VESTAL, N.Y.—Kristen Baker scored twice, including the game-winning goal 6:06 into the second overtime to life host Stony Brook (7-3-2, 1-1 AE) to a 2-1 win over Binghamton women’s soccer (6-5-1, 0-2-1 AE) Sunday afternoon. The game was delayed 40 minutes after regulation due to lightening.

The Seawolves rallied from 1-0 down to improve to 8-2-2 against the Bearcats since the two programs elevated to Division I.

“It’s always tough on the road to get close games to go your way,” head coach Sarah McClellan said. “Stony Brook is a good team. We had great effort from our players ... and we have some players who are really making strides. Every game will be a tight game and we need to continue to remain committed to the process and prepare for our upcoming games. We’re looking forward to being at home for the next three.”

Senior midfielder Brittany Walsh had given Binghamton an early lead when she scored her third goal of the season in the 11th minute. Senior back Meghan McCarty drew the assist - her first point of the season. McCarty sent a free kick into the box, where Walsh tipped it in.

But Stony Brook answered three minutes later when Baker found the back of the net from well out.

The teams then played 90 minutes of scoreless soccer before Baker struck midway through the second overtime period on a 25-yard blast.

Stony Brook held a 24-12 margin in shots.

Junior keepers Carrie Martin (0.65 GAA) and Stephanie Speirs (0.99) split the game with Martin making one save and allowing a goal in the first half and Speirs collecting six saves and surrendering the game-winner in her 61 minutes of action.

Binghamton next hosts Albany Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
