Women’s Tennis Edged Out By St. Bonaventure 4-3
Leibowicz picks up pair of victories over Bonnies'

Olean, NY- The BU women’s tennis team fell just short of a come from behind victory with a 4-3 defeat at the hands of host St. Bonaventure Saturday afternoon. After a 6-1, 6-0 singles victory from senior Emma Leibowicz cut Binghamton’s deficit down to just two with three matches remaining, senior Jillian Santos lost an extremely hard fought three set match 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 to SBU senior Manuela Marin-Salcedo, giving the home squad their fourth and final decisive team point.
The doubles duo of Leibowicz and sophomore Jennifer Fridman started the Bearcats (4-7) on the right foot during double competition with a dominant 8-1 win, but Binghamton dropped a pair of matches 8-6, giving the Bonnies’ the always crucial team point. Leibowicz moves to 4-5 during dual match play and is just one win shy of recording her 60th career win at doubles.
Senior Marina Bykovskaya won a hard fought three set match 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (13-11), moving to a team-best 6-4 in duals and 14-11 overall on the singles court. Freshman Katherine Medianik also was victorious from the No.5 singles spot, picking up a win in straight sets 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 over St. Bonaventure junior Kathryn Kvas.
BU takes a two-week break before playing their next match against host Syracuse on March 23. The following day, Binghamton takes on America East power Boston University in Syracuse, NY.
