Syracuse, NY—The Binghamton women’s tennis team went 1-1 over the weekend in Syracuse, highlighted by a 5-2 victory over America East opponent Boston University Saturday afternoon. BU (5-8) ran away with the match on the singles court winning five of six matches over the 17-time defending conference champions.

Senior Emma Leibowicz put forth a strong effort in the victory over Boston securing both a singles and doubles victory for the Bearcats who ended a three-game losing streak. Alongside freshman Katherine Medianik, Leibowicz recorded her 60th doubles victory in an 8-4 win. She becomes just the eighth BU player to have reached the 60-win plateau. Fellow seniors Jillian Santos and Marina Bykovskaya each recorded wins in singles action. For Bykovskaya, it was her 66th career win, which places her tied for ninth all-time.

The Bearcats saw themselves down 2-0 to the perennial America East power, but closed out the afternoon winning the final five matches, capped off by Jillian Santos who won in epic fashion 6-2,4-6,7-6(7-3) from the number one spot. With 83 wins, she is just one shy of tying Lya Kushnirovich (2003-07) for fourth place all-time.

Binghamton dropped their match up with #47 Syracuse (11-4) Friday afternoon 7-0. Binghamton is winless in their six all-time meetings against the Orange.

BU travels to Fairleigh Dickinson (9-5) on Tuesday for a 3 pm match up with the Knights. BU is a perfect 4-0 against the Northeast conference opponents, including a 4-3 victory last season on April 3.
