Women’s Tennis Goes 0-2 Over Weekend in Massachusetts

Amherst, Mass.—Binghamton (3-8) lost a pair of matches over the weekend in Massachusetts. The Bearcats fell to Harvard 4-0 on Saturday (match played to decision) and lost the following afternoon to UMass 6-1 in Amherst.

The Crimson (4-3) ousted BU with a four-point win at the Murr Center Tennis Courts in Cambridge, Mass.. Harvard won from the first and third doubles spots to claim the first team point and reeled off three straight singles win to take the match. Freshmen Sara Kohtz, Shea Brodsky and Agatha Ambrozy were unable to finish their matches after the game had been decided.

On Sunday, Binghamton was defeated by red-hot UMass 6-1 at the Bay Road Tennis Center. The Minutewomen have won three straight dual matches and nine of their first 11 decisions this season. Sophomore Katherine Medianik captured the Bearcats’ lone point on the afternoon, winning a 6-2,3-6,6-1 decision at No. 1 singles. The win is her first singles triumph this dual match season and increases her career win total to 16 (highest on the roster).

Binghamton will return to action this upcoming Saturday when they square off with Princeton. This matchup marks the second time the two programs have met (Princeton swept BU 7-0 back in 2002).
