Vestal, N.Y.—The Binghamton University women’s tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic team honors on Thursday afternoon. In addition to the team accolade, three student-athletes were selected as scholar-athletes as chosen by the ITA.
Binghamton was recognized after compiling a team grade point average of 3.20 or higher by the ITA for the second straight year. In addition to 2013-14 seasons, the Bearcats have had two more All-Academic teams (2006, 2010).
The first of Binghamton’s ITA Scholar-Athletes is Katya Medianik. The Laurel Springs, NY native adds on to her accolades in 2013-14 with the academic nod from the ITA. Medianik, who enters her senior season this fall, is a two-time America East all-academic and all-conference singles player for the Bearcats.
Shea Brodsky joins Medianik as a scholar-athlete, compiling a GPA of over 3.50 following the 2013-14 academic year. Brodsky, an all-conference singles and doubles player in 2014, helped lead Binghamton to their 13th straight America East semifinals appearance.
Missy Edelblum rounds out the scholar-athletes for Binghamton in 2014. Edelblum, who hails from Roslyn, NY, was an America East all-academic member in 2013.
