Women’s Tennis Loses At Rutgers On Friday Afternoon
DiMuro wins fifth straight singles match; improves to 6-2 in duals

PISCATAWAY, N.J.—Binghamton (2-6) lost 6-1 on the road at Rutgers (6-3) on Friday afternoon at East Brunswick Racket Club. Freshman Annie DiMuro won BU’s lone match against the AAC school, defeating Mariam Zein in three sets.
The reigning America East Player of the Week won 7-5,2-6,10-7 over Zein to claim her fifth straight singles win. DiMuro now is 13-7 overall and 6-2 in dual match play. She is comfortable at fourth singles so far, going 4-1 in the early going for the Bearcats.
Rutgers swept all three doubles matches and picked up key victories from the first and fifth spots in their singles lineup. Sophomore Alexis Tashiro nearly pushed Rutger’s top player Vanessa Petrini to a decisive third set, but fell short losing 7-6 (7-4) in the second. At fifth singles, Agatha Ambrozy also was unable to prolong the match by losing in a tightly contested second set, 7-6 (7-5).
Binghamton has Saturday off but will play the following day at NJIT at 11 a.m. from Newark, N.J.. The Highlanders are 3-4 this season.
