Boston, Mass.—Binghamton (0-2) dropped its second consecutive dual match to start the season, losing 6-1 to host Boston University at their Track and Tennis Center. Freshman Agatha Ambrozy picked up the Bearcats lone team point from the fifth singles position.
The Terriers (3-0) swept doubles play with 8-4, 8-2 and 8-5 victories. Freshman Sara Kohtz put in a hard fought battle at the first singles position, winning the first set over highly touted freshman Lauren Davis 7-5. After losing the second set 6-2, Kohtz was forced to give up the point in the third set due to injury. Davis was a five-star recruit out of Maryland, who currently is in the top-20 of the ITA Northeast singles rankings.
Ambrozy picked up her first dual match win of her collegiate career when Boston’s Madison Craft was forced to retire the match after an injury.
BU will face its next group of opponents beginning this upcoming Friday when they visit Army. On Saturday, the Bearcats square off with Sacred Heart and Seton Hall the following afternoon from West Point, N.Y..
