The Binghamton University women’s tennis team picked up a dual match victory over America East opponent Albany 4-3 Friday night at the Binghamton Tennis Center. Senior Jillian Santos recorded her 80th career singles victory with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Albany’s Rocio Lopez. The senior, who competes at number one singles, becomes just the fourth BU player in program history to accumulate 80 or more wins.
Underclassmen Jennifer Fridman and Missy Edelblum each tallied singles victories for the Bearcats, who now move to an even 3-3 on the young 2012 campaign. Edelblum, who was the only BU player last weekend to record a victory, moves to 8-7 in singles play this season and an impressive 3-1 during dual matches.
Binghamton began the night by sweeping all three doubles matches earning an all important point that in the end decided the match. Senior Marina Bykovskaya and freshman Katherine Medianik tallied an 8-5 win to seal the doubles victory for the Bearcats.
BU (3-3) returns to action Sunday morning in a dual match against visiting Temple at the Binghamton Tennis Center. The match will begin at 9 am.
