Binghamton, N.Y.—The Binghamton University women’s tennis team defeated visiting Temple 5-2 on Friday evening on the courts at Binghamton Tennis Center just seven miles from the campus of BU. The Bearcats won six of the nine matches on Friday on the way to their third win in the last four dual matches.
After splitting the first two doubles matchups, Binghamton received a clutch performance from the duo of Agatha Ambrozy and Annie DiMuro. They combined to pick up a crucial 8-7 (7-2) victory that put the Bearcats ahead 1-0 in the match. DiMuro now has a team-leading 10 doubles victories in 2013-14.
With the score tied at one, DiMuro once again came through. She defeated Temple’s Rebecca Breland in straight sets, improving her win streak to seven straight matches. Next in line for Binghamton was Sara Kohtz who competed for the first time all season at the top of the lineup. Kohtz battled her way to a 6-2,4-6,15-13 win and in the process improved her singles record to 14-6.
