Cambridge, Mass.—Three seniors from Binghamton University’s women’s tennis team were named to the all-conference team Thursday afternoon by the America East, culminating a terrific four-year run which featured three runner-up finishes at the conference tournament and an impressive combined record of 54-29 (.651) in dual matches.
Senior Jillian Santos was named to the first-team at second singles, the highest honor received for the Flushing native. Santos, who was named to the second-team three consecutive years prior, served as Binghamton’s top singles player this season. She boasted a 16-19 record, including a 10-12 record at first singles during dual competition. She finished up her career third place in both singles (86) and doubles (77) wins.
Next in line, fellow senior Marina Bykovskaya earned second-team honors at the number one singles spot. This marks her third time making the second-team, in what was a terrific senior campaign. She won a team-high 22 wins and was 14-7 during dual matches. With a 73-47 record in singles competition, she wrapped her career seventh in program history in wins.
Lastly, the duo of seniors Emma Leibowicz and Jillian Santos earned second-team all-conference at second doubles. Santos led the team with 18 doubles wins, as Leibowicz wasn’t far behind tallying 15. Leibowicz wrapped up her four-year career with 67 doubles victories (T-7 all-time).
“I’m extremely proud of our three seniors,” head coach Libby McGovern said. “They worked extremely hard this season and it showed out on the court with their consistent and strong play. All three of them have had terrific careers here at Binghamton and to be honored by the conference once again is a tribute to them that is quite deserved.”
