Women’s Tennis Tallies A Pair Of Victories At Stony Brook
Bearcats (9-12) sweep Hartford 7-0 and Stony Brook 4-3

STONY BROOK, N.Y.—The Binghamton women’s tennis team swept a pair of matches Saturday over Stony Brook and Hartford. In the finale, Binghamton defeated Hartford (1-16) in dominating fashion at 7-0.
In the morning match, BU edged past Stony Brook (10-7) 4-3. After earning the doubles team point, the Bearcats fell behind 2-1 after Jillian Santos and Taylor Hollander each fell at the no.1 and no. 2 spots. Senior Marina Bykovskaya evened the score with a crucial 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 victory and freshman Katherine Medianik put the Bearcats ahead with her straight set win. Despite winning at the no. 4 spot, Stony Brook forfeited at the no.6 spot giving Binghamton their eighth triumph of the season.
Just hours later, Binghamton squared off with Hartford and put the Hawks away, winning each and every match. With Santos’ grind out three set singles win, she now sits in a tie for third place all-time with 86 wins. Bykovskaya finished the afternoon at 2-0 on the singles court, improving her season record to a team-best 21-14, including 13-7 in dual matches.
With the two wins on Saturday, Binghamton finished out the regular season 4-1 against America East opponents and will be tested next weekend as they look to earn their first America East title in school history.
