Princeton, NJ—The Binghamton women’s tennis team is in action Saturday versus the #68 ranked Princeton Tigers. The match is set for noon and will be played at Jadwin Gym.
The Bearcats (3-8) recently lost a pair of matches last weekend to both UMass and Harvard. Sophomore Katherine Medianik was the team’s lone winner over the weekend, beating the Minutewomen’s #1 singles player in a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 triumph. The win gives Medianik her 16th career singles victory of her career, which is tops on the current BU roster.
Despite losing their past four dual matches, Binghamton has seen strong play from their newcomers. Freshmen Agatha Ambrozy and Sara Kohtz are both 4-6 on the singles court this spring. Kohtz is an impressive 4-2 from the second spot. On the doubles court, another pair of freshmen have opened some eyes. The combination of Alexis Tashiro and Shea Brodsky have produced four victories (all from second doubles).
The Tigers went a combined 1-1 this past weekend versus Colorado (W 4-3) and Denver (L 3-4). Boasting a well rounded squad, Princeton is led by freshman standout Amanda Muliawan. In her first season with the program, she has a dual singles mark of 7-1. The Ivy League school carries a 16-6 doubles record coming into the weekend, having won six of the eight team points awarded this spring.
