Jain made history with a singles victory against Georgia
Tech in the NCAA first round on Saturday. Jain's 7-6, 6-0 win
at No. 5 singles gave BU its first-ever team point in NCAA play
and completed a perfect dual meet season. He finished with a
24-0 record - just the second BU player in 64 years to go undefeated
in duals. The team point was the first that any America East
men's or women's team garnered at the NCAA Championship.

Corey
Taylor set a new standard for RBI in a season with one big
game against Albany on Sunday. Taylor ripped a three-run home
run and drove in five runs to help the Bearcats complete a four-game
sweep of the Great Danes. In the process, he broke his own record
for season RBIs, which now stands at 59. Taylor has 10 more RBI
than any other player in the America East and ranks 15th in the
country in RBI per game.

| Men's Tennis team
The
men's tennis team rolled to its third straight America East championship
over the weekend, capping a record-setting season which saw head
coach Adam Cohen's Bearcats earn their first national ranking
(as high as #43), win 20 consecutive matches and carry a 25-1
record into the NCAA Championship.

| Henry Dunn (Rockville Centre, N.Y.)
Junior baseball outfielder
Henry
Dunn steered the Bearcats to a perfect 4-0 week, including
a three-game sweep of America East opponent UMBC. Dunn hit .529
for the week and had a slugging percentage of 1.12 and an on-base
percentage of .579. He collected five extra-base hits and eight
RBI in the four games and has a team-high 10 RBI in 10 conference
games this spring.

| Deannie Plemon (Irvine, Calif.)
Junior softball catcher Deannie
Plemon helped BU to a 4-1 record on the week. Plemon's walk-off
homer in the bottom of the seventh concluded BU's three game
sweep of Hartford. In the game, Plemon was 4-for-4 with five
RBI, two home runs and a double. On the week, Plemon was 8-for-15
(.533) with nine RBI, three home runs and a 1.267 slugging percentage.
Plemon is now the single-season record holder at Binghamton for
most home runs (10) and most RBI (33) and also holds the career
record for most home runs (19). Plemon also has an active 10-game
hitting steak and was named the America East Player of the Week.

Katz shattered the school record for lowest round with a
6-under-par 66 at the Lafayette Invitational to lift the Bearcats
to their second-straight tournament title. Katz recorded an eagle,
four birdies and no bogeys to break the old mark of 4-under,
held by four former Bearcats. He finished in a tie for second
place among 150 golfers and lowered his team-best scoring average
to 73.4.

DeLuca provided clutch hitting all week in leading BU to
a 4-1 record. DeLuca batted .533 (8-for-15), hit two doubles,
a home run and had seven RBI. DeLuca also had an on-base percentage
of .588 and slugged .867. Her week was highlighted by going 3-for-4
with four RBI in BU's 10-5 win over UMBC. In that game DeLuca
hit an RBI double, an RBI single, and a two-run home run in her
first three at-bats. Earlier in the week DeLuca was 2-for-3 with
both of the team's two RBI in BU's 2-1 win over Siena. DeLuca
registered a hit in all five games on the week.

Giulietti had another outstanding start on the hill, gaining
his second win with a combined shutout over Centenary College.
Giulietti tossed seven scoreless innings, scattering eight hits,
with six strikeouts and just one walk. Already leading the conference
and ranked 32nd in the country in ERA, he lowered that number
to 1.19. Giulietti was masterful at closing out innings, utilizing
double plays to work out of jams in the first, fourth and fifth
innings. He also struck out the final batter in the second, third
and seventh innings with runners on base, stranding six runners
in the process.

Justin
Lister made history at the NCAA Wrestling Championship, leading
the Bearcats to a 21st-place team finish. Lister won four matches,
became the first BU wrestler to advance to the NCAA semifinals
and placed fourth in the nation - the highest finish of any Division
I wrestler in program history. Along the way he pinned the third-seeded
and fourth-seeded wrestlers in the 157-pound weight class and
earned the highest placement for an unseeded wrestler in the
last six years of the NCAA Championship (all weight classes).

| Gilbert Wong (Hong Kong)

Gilbert
Wong won all three singles matches during the week to keep
the No. 63 Bearcats (11-1) rolling. With the match against Radford
tied at 3-3, Wong provided the winning margin with a 6-3, 3-6,
7-5 win at fourth singles. He then produced straight-set wins
against Youngstown State and Duquesne. Wong has won 14 straight
singles matches and is 23-6 overall, 11-0 in duals. He also teamed
with Sven Vloedgraven to win two doubles matches. The pair is
ranked No. 6 in the Northeast.

| Wrestling Team
The
entire wrestling team earned the weekly honor after capturing
the program's first-ever conference championship. The Bearcats
won the Colonial Athletic Association title, crowning four individual
champions, one runnerup and two more top-4 finishers. In the
process, the team qualified a school-record six individuals to
the upcoming NCAA Championship.

Gleason won the Bearcats only championship at the 2010 America
East Conference championship meet. Gleason won the 500 free with
a time of 4:31.14. He also placed fourth in the 200 free (1:39.86)
and seventh in the 200 back (1:52.10). Gleason was also named
to the the Swimming and Diving All-Conference Team.

Arnett was named the the Men's Most Outstanding Track Athlete
for the second year in a row, highlighting Binghamton's performance
at the America East Indoor Track & Field Championships, which
were held Firday thru Saturday at the Boston University Track
and Tennis Center. The Bearcat men were the runner-up for the
third year in a row while the women placed seventh at the nine-team
meet.
Arnett swept both the men's 200 and 400 titles for the third
year in a row, posting times of 21.54 and 47.39 respectively.
He also anchored the first-place 4x400 relay team which clocked
a winning time of 3:12.16.
2-8-10 | Lauren Bates (Buffalo, N.Y.)
Junior Lauren
Bates was named the America East Women's Tennis Player of
the Week after going a perfect 3-0 in first singles matches and
2-1 at No. 1 doubles. Her efforts helped lead the Bearcats to
a perfect 3-0 week in dual matches. Bates now ranks ninth all-time
in program history with 61 career singles wins and an overall
record of 61-24. She also ranks third all-time in doubles with
58 career wins and a record of 58-14
2-1-10 | Erik van Ingen (Cortland, N.Y.)
Junior Erik
van Ingen made history on Saturday at the Penn State
National Indoor Track Open, as he became the first Binghamton
athlete ever to break four minutes in the mile. He won the event
in a time of 3:59.58. van Ingen broke his own school record by
over two seconds. He set the previous school mark of 4:01.59
at the Notre Dame Indoor Invitational on March 4, 2009.
The
NCAA provisional qualifying standard for the mile is 4:03.50.
Last year, van Ingen reached the provisional qualifying time
three times, but just missed making the final cutoff time to
the NCAA Championships. The
NCAA automatic qualifying standard is 3:59.00. Last year, each
runner who broke four minutes advanced to the NCAA Indoor Championships.
1-25-10 | Erica Carter (Naperville, Ill.)
Senior guard Erica
Carter became the 12th player in Binghamton program history
to reach the 1,000-point mark for her career during the Bearcats'
win at UMBC on Jan. 18. She finished the game with a career-high
27 points. She also netted 20 points in the Bearcats game at
Maine on Jan. 21. Carter, who is averaging a team-best 14.3 points
per game, has now reached the 20-point mark four times this season
and six times during her career. She is on track to finish with
the highest BU scoring average since Rachel Laws (14.7 ppg.)
during the 2003-04 campaign. In her last four games, Carter has
averaged 21.0 points per contest
1-18-10 | Tin Wai Siu (Hong Kong, China)
Freshman Tin
Wai Siu won three individual races leading the women's swimming
and diving team over St. Bonaventure for the first time in program
history. Siu won the 1000 free with a Binghamton freshman record
time of 10:36.19 and went on to win the 200 fly (2:07.75) and
the 500 free (5:11.99). This season Siu has won 10 individual
races and has already led the women's swimming and diving team
to the best record the program has enjoyed since the 2002-03
season.
1-11-10 | Viive Rebane (Talinn, Estonia)
Sophomore forward Viive
Rebane recorded a pair of double-doubles in leading the women's
basketball team to a 2-1 week. She turned in a 14-point, 15-rebound
effort against Boston University on Jan. 7 and followed up with
a 13-point, 10-rebound effort against Stony Brook on Jan. 9.
In her last five games, Rebane has averaged 12.8 points and 10.2
rebounds per contest. She is currently third in the America East
Conference with 7.9 rebounds per game.
12-14-09 | Josh Patterson (Ontario, N.Y.)
Senior 184-pound Josh
Patterson pinned both his opponents to help BU post three
victories in its home quadrangular with Princeton, Liberty and
Merchant Marine Academy. Patteson, ranked 15th in the country
and a reigning All-American, needed just 37 seconds to end his
match with Princeton, and pinned his Liberty opponent in 2:14
- giving him four pins on the season. He improved to 13-3 overall,
6-0 in duals and is 61-8 in career dual matches.

| Greer Wright (Lake Worth, Fla.)

Wright led the Bearcats to a win over Bucknell with a strong
overall performance. Wright, who leads the team in scoring (11.9
ppg.), produced game-highs of 16 points, nine rebounds and five
assists in 38 minutes of action. He converted 6-of-8 free throws
in the final 1:17 to preserve the win in front of 3,515 at the
Events Center. Wright was selected as the America East Player
of the Game.

| Nate Schiedel (Caledonia, N.Y.)

197-pound freshman Nate
Schiedel went undefeated at the Northeast Duals and provided
BU with a crucial pin in the team's dramatic comeback win over
North Carolina. Schiedel, 5-0 this season, recorded a first-period
fall against the 11th-ranked wrestler in the country. He put
his opponent in a headlock, slammed him to the mat and strategically
kept him in bounds to secure the pin and pivotal six team points.
Schiedel also notched another pin and a major decision in his
other matches during the tournament.

| Volleyball team
The
Binghamton volleyball team captured the America East championship
on Saturday with its 3-1 defeat over top-seeded Albany. The Bearcats
win their second conference title since 2005 and will earn an
automatic berth in to the NCAA Tournament. Junior Lindsey
Mueller was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player
and Michelle
McDonough and Anna
Lejina joined Mueller on the all-tournament team.
11-16-09 | Erik van Ingen (Cortland, N.Y.)
Junior Erik
van Ingen became the first Binghamton runner ever to qualify
for the NCAA Division I championships, highlighting the Bearcats'
showing at the Northeast Regional Meet on Nov. 14 at Franklin
Park. After capturing the America East individual title two weeks
ago, van Ingen finished seventh overall (out of 243 runners)
on Saturday. He covered the 10,000-meter course in a time of
31:17. In the process, van Ingen becomes just the third runner
from any America East Conference school to qualify for the NCAA
Championships in the last 10 years and the first since Jochen
Dikefoss of Boston University made four consecutive trips from
2000-03. van Ingen is also the first Binghamton runner to qualify
for the NCAA Cross Country Championships at any Division level
since Art Gunther made three straight appearnaces appearances
at the Division III meet from 1990-92.

McDonough became the fastest Bearcat to reach the 1,000 career
kills plateau this past weekend. McDonough accomplished the feat
in just her 300th career set on Friday night at Stony Brook.
McDonough currently ranks sixth on the career kills list at Binghamton.

| Men's cross country team
The
Binghamton men's cross country team captured its first-ever America
East championship on Saturday. With eight runners in the top
21, the Bearcats ran away from the field, which included three-time
defending champion New Hampshire. Junior Erik
van Ingen won the men's individual title as Binghamton became
the first America East men's cross country team in nine year
to sweep both the individual and team championships.
10-26-09 | Emily Pape (East Northport, N.Y.)
Freshman soccer player
Emily
Pape scored another big goal for the Bearcats, who clinched
regular-season runnerup honors in the America East. Pape netted
her conference-best third game-winner as BU kocked off host New
Hampshire 1-0 on Sunday. It was her team-high fourth goal in
conference play and earned her AE Rookie of the Week honors for
the second time in three weeks.

Vloedgraven made school history by capturing the prestigious
ITA Northeast Regional singles championship with six consecutive
wins. Vloedgraven rolled through the 128-man singles draw, beating
opponents from Cornell and Yale in the semifinals and finals.
He now advances to the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championship
Novembver 5-8 at Yale.

Pape led the surging Bearcats to a pair of wins last week,
netting the game-winning goal in victories over Hartford and
Maine. Pape, a two-time America East Player of the Game this
season, has scored goals in three consecutive games. She was
also selected as the America East Rookie of the Week.

van Ingen made the most of his first race of the cross country
season, finishing 17th at the prestigious Lehigh/Paul Short Run.
In a field of 386 runners, van Ingen covered the 8,000-meter
course in a time of 24:03. In the process, he recorded the highest
finish ever by a Binghamton runner at the Paul Short Run. Last
season, van Ingen placed a then program-best 42nd (out of 298
runners).The Binghamton men placed a program-best 11th out of
42 teams in the Gold Race.

Stenta recorded a pair of shutout victories this past week.
Against Cornell he stopped seven shots and made a diving save
on a penalty kick as the Bearcats won 2-0. Against Niagara on
Sunday, Stenta made five more saves as Binghamton took a 4-0
decision. For his career, he now has a program-best 35 shutouts.

Junior golfer Jake
Katz was runnerup out of 72 golfers at the St. Bonaventure
Keenan Invitational, leading the Bearcats to a third-place team
finish. He fired a 2-under 68 in the opening round at Bartlett
CC and finished with a 1-over 71 in the final round. His first-round
score tied for the fourth-lowest in the tournament's history.
Katz currently leads BU with a 74.2 scoring average.

| Chris Gaube (Vestal, N.Y.)
Graduate student Chris
Gaube won the men's individual title, highlighting Binghamton's
performance at its home cross country invitational on Saturday
afternoon. Gaube's win came against a Columbia squad which placed
third at last season's NCAA Northeast Regional Championships.
He covered the 8,000-meter course in a time of 25:48. It was
Gaube second career invitational win, with the other coming at
last season's Baltimore Metro Meet.His time was the fourth-fastest
performance on the Binghamton course since the program moved
up to the NCAA Division I level in 2001.

Senior back Kyle
Kucharski (Endwell, N.Y./Maine Endwell) tallied a career-high
three assists in Binghamton's 3-2 win over Syracuse on Sept.
1. The three assists is the most by a Binghamton player since
the program moved up to the Division I level in 2001. Although
he was not credited with an assist, it was Kucharski's free kick
in overtime that eventually led to Binghamton's game winner against
Colgate four days later.

Junior volleyball hitter
Anna
Lejina was named the America East Player of the Week and
also to the Hofstra/Asics Invitational All-Tournament team this
past weekend. Lejina posted 3.64 kills and 1.73 digs per set
on the weekend. In a five-set match against Rhode Island, she
slammed 21 kills and grabbed a career-high 11 digs. She helped
BU go 2-1 on the weekend, good for second place at the tournament. |
