BU finishes fourth in America East Commissioner's Cup standings
Bearcats place among the top four for fifth consecutive season

America East Release

VESTAL, N.Y. -- Binghamton University placed fourth out of nine teams in the 2007-08 America East Commissioner's Cup - a competition that rewards across-the-board success in the league's 21 sports. It marked the fifth straight year that Binghamton has been among the top tier of the league.

Boston University won the competition with 378 points, followed by Albany (318), UMBC (314), Binghamton (291) and New Hampshire (278) to round out the top five.

The scoring system allots points for regular season and America East tournament success, and the Bearcats' position was enhanced by strong seasons from men's soccer, baseball, men's and women's tennis and men's track & field. Binghamton had one conference champion (men's tennis), four runners-up (men's soccer, men's indoor track, women's tennis, baseball) and two regular season first place finishes (men's soccer, baseball).

Head coach Paul Marco's soccer team garnered 46 points for the Bearcats, and Tim Sinicki's baseball squad racked up 34 points. Both totals were the most in the conference for their sport.

Binghamton's nine men's teams had the league's second-highest point total for the second straight year. UMBC compiled the most points in men's sports (185), followed by the Bearcats (176).
