Binghamton inks third junior college transfer

VESTAL, N.Y.--The Binghamton baseball team has received a national letter of intent from J.D. Brink (Elkton, Md.), a junior college transfer from Cecil Community College in North East, Md. He is a 6-2, 215-lb. pitcher and will join the Bearcats next year for his junior season.

Last season, Brink went 11-1 and struck out 97 batters in 80 innings. He had a 3.50 ERA and was named second-team all-region. Brink’s pitches have been clocked as high as 92 mph.

"JD will immediately challenge for the number one spot in our rotation next season,” said head baseball coach Tim Sinicki. “He's got command of an outstanding split finger fastball which is a legitimate strikeout pitch at the Division I level. We're very excited to sign a young man with this type of athletic ability who also brings a 3.5 grade point average to the University."

Bink is the third junior college tranfer to sign with the Bearcats. He joins Mark Messina (Rochester, N.Y.) and Joe Costello (Ventnor, N.J.), both of whom signed within the past week.
