team inks three junior college standouts
David Lind (San Mateo, Calif.) is a 6-3, right-handed pitcher from Skyline College in San Bruno, California. In his sophomore season, he appeared in 15 games, making 12 starts, posted a 4-5 record, picked up a save and struck out 61 batters. Linds ERA was 2.62. He was Skylines number one starter and concluded the season by being named a Coast Conference North first team all-star.
"David has put up some extremely impressive numbers against great competition in the California Community College League, Binghamton head coach Tim Sinicki said. We expect David to make an immediate impact in our program."
Powell (Virginia Beach, Va.)
is a 5-10 outfielder from Dundalk Community College in Baltimore,
Md. This past spring, he batted .342 with three home runs and
25 RBI. He also had 25 stolen bases. Powell was named to the
Maryland Junior College sophomore all-star team.
Keith Ford (Broken Arrow, Okla.) is a 5-11 shortstop from Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kan. In his sophomore campaign, he hit .329, scored a team-leading 34 runs, belted eight doubles and a pair of triples and was 31-for-33 in stolen bases. Coffeyville competes in the Jayhawk League, which is considered to be one of the top junior college leagues in the country.
"Keith's a flat-out burner, Sinicki said. He has tremendous range defensively and will be counted on to set the table for our middle of the order guys offensively."
