BU baseball loses at Army 5-2

Box Score

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Host Army (21-16) snapped a 2-2 tie with a pair of runs in the sixth inning and went on to a 5-2 victory over Binghamton (16-15) Tuesday afternoon from Doubleday Field. Each team collected 10 hits but the Bearcats committed three errors which led to three unearned runs.

Five BU pitchers worked on a predetermined rotation for the midweek non-conference game, with freshman starter Alex Adami having the most success. Adami went 3.0 scoreless innings and allowed just one hit.

Binghamton trailed 2-0 before scoring twice in the top of the sixth inning on RBI singles by senior third baseman Kyle Klee and sophomore center fielder Corey Taylor. It marked the eighth consecutive game that Taylor has posted an RBI - extending his school record. The Bearcats had two more men on with one out in the inning but a double play groundout and another groundout stalled the offense.
In the bottom of the frame, Army took advantage of two BU throwing errors and scored two runs on a groundout and a single. The Black Knights added another run in the eighth inning on a double and a fielding error.

Klee went 2-for-4 with an RBI, sophomore right fielder Peter Bregartner went 2-for-3 with a run scored and junior middle infielders Jeff Abrams and Jim Calderone had two hits apiece.

The Bearcats host NJIT in a doubleheader at noon Saturday at Varsity Field.
