DALLAS, Texas. -- Host Dallas Baptist (13-7) limited Binghamton to a pair of hits and scored six runs in its final five innings to post a 6-0 win over the Bearcats (4-9) Monday afternoon from Patriot Field.
Dallas Baptist plated two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings and added single runs in the sixth and eighth frames. Bearcat pitchers issued eight walks and the Patriots stole five bases to aid their cause.
Offensively, BU mustered just two hits - a first-inning double by junior first baseman Dave Ciocchi and a third-inning single by freshman shortstop John Howell. Binghamton was retired in order in the second, fourth, fifth, seventh and ninth innings. Down 4-0, the Bearcats loaded the bases in the sixth inning before a flyout to right ended the threat. Binghamton also put runners on first and second in the eighth but couldn't break through.
Sophomore starting pitcher Jay Lynch allowed five runs on six hits in 5.0 innings of work. He struck out two but walked five.
Binghamton plays at University of New Mexico at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
