Vestal, N.Y.– Former Binghamton University baseball pitcher Scott Diamond (Guelph, Ontario) earned Pitcher of the Week honors in the Class A South Atlantic League for April 21-27. Diamond, who pitches for the Rome Braves, won two games and allowed just one earned run in 12 innings of work.

He tossed six innings to earn a win over Savannah on April 21. Diamond struck out six and allowed just one earned run. Five days later, he shut down Savannah again with six shutout innings. In that game, Diamond struck out six, walked none and scattered four hits.

He is 3-0 with a 2.43 ERA in seven starts for the Braves. In 40.2 innings, he has 31 strikeouts and just nine walks.

Diamond signed with the Atlanta organization last August, and reported to its spring training facility in Orlando in the fall.

In three seasons at Binghamton, he totalled 14 wins and started 37 games - the most starts of any BU pitcher in that span.
