East Release Haughie, a junior catcher, was named Player of the Week and Diamond, a sophomore pitcher, shared Pitcher of the Week honors. Haughie smacked three home runs in a weekend series at Delaware State - doubling his career home run total. He went 3-for-3 with two home runs and five RBI in the season-opening win and then delivered a pinch-hit, two-out, two-run double in game two. Haughie added another home run and three runs scored in Sunday's twinbill. Diamond meanwhile, picked up where he left off from his America East Rookie of the Year campaign, tossing five shutout innings to beat Delaware State. He struck out five, walked one and allowed just two singles. The Bearcats are in Fresno, Calif., competing in the seven-team Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic. |
