Dennis contains Wildcats on four hits over seven innings

Box Score

MANHATTAN, Kan.– Kansas State (9-11) held Binghamton to five hits over nine innings en route to a 5-0 shutout over the visiting Bearcats (5-10) Saturday afternoon at Tointon Family Stadium. The Wildcats stretched a 2-0 lead with three runs off BU's bullpen in the eighth inning.

Junior starter Jeff Dennis (North Syracuse, N.Y.) pitched a solid game, going seven innings and allowing two runs on four hits.

After scoring single runs in the first and second innings, Kansas State tacked on three more in the eighth inning. The Bearcats, meanwhile, were stifled by Wildcats' starter Justin Murray, who scattered five hits - four singles and a double - in his complete game win. Binghamton also stranded six baserunners.

Freshman right fielder Peter Bregartner (East Islip, N.Y.) went 2-for-4. Freshman third baseman Brian Ivan (Toronto, Ontario) went 1-for-2, lifting his team-high batting average to 371.

The teams will conclude their three-game series with a game at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
