Immediate Release: April 24, 2007 VESTAL, N.Y. - Four Le Moyne pitchers combined to throw a three-hit shutout in a 2-0 win over host Binghamton (15-12) in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday afternoon from Varsity Field. The Dolphins (17-15) scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Sophomore pitcher Brandon Otto (1-4) went four innings to earn his first win of the spring. He allowed just one hit with two strikeouts and no walks. Binghamton's third pitcher in a pre-set rotation - junior Mario Roefaro (Utica, N.Y.), took the loss after allowing a run on two hits in two innings of work. Junior starter Gio Yannuzzi (Binghamton, N.Y.) retired the side in order in each of his two innings of work (six groundouts). Senior
Justin Smucker (Bird-in-Hand, Pa.),
senior right fielder Jeff Monaco (Binghamton,
N.Y.) and sophomore designated hitter Ken
Jacobi (Milford, Conn.) had BU's hits. Jacobi doubled to
lead off the fifth inning and advanced to third on a failed pick-off
attempt. But with one out, he was erased on a pick-off at third,
and BU wound up stranding two more runners in the inning. |
