Binghamton baseball rallies for 3-2 extra-innings win over Long Island
Hitchcock goes 3-for-5, plates winning run with 10th-inning triple

Box Score

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Senior first baseman Brendon Hitchcock (Laceyville, Pa.) delivered an RBI triple in the 10th inning propelling Binghamton (3-4) to a come-from-behind 3-2 extra-innings win over host Long Island University (2-8) Saturday afternoon from LIU Field.

Hitchcock's hit - his third of the game - scored junior third baseman Ryan James (Wading River, N.Y.), who opened the inning with a single. Junior Khalid Afify (Binghamton, N.Y.) induced three groundouts in the bottom of the 10th inning to earn the win.

The Bearcats trailed 2-0 before James and Hitchcock struck in the eighth frame. James rapped an RBI single that scored senior second baseman Matt Simek (Vestal, N.Y.), who had led off with a double. Hitchcock then stroked an RBI double to score James and tie the game.

Junior Zach Groh (Reading, Pa.) had another strong outing before departing after six innings. He allowed just one run on two hits. Groh struck out six and walked two. Afify went the final 1.2 innings without allowing a hit.

Hitchcock went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI, James was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI and Simek collected a pair of hits.

Binghamton will play two games on Sunday - at 11 a.m. against LIU and immediately following that game against Lafayette.
