VESTAL, N.Y. -- After its strong showing at the NCAA Greenville Regional, BU baseball landed two players on the all-tournament team. Freshman first baseman Dave Ciocchi and sophomore left fielder Corey Taylor were among the 12 players chosen from the four participating schools. Ciocchi was one of four infielders and Taylor was deemed among the top-3 outfielders at the event. Regional champion and host East Carolina had five honorees and runnerup South Carolina had the remaining four spots.
Ciocchi hit .429 (6-for-14) with eight RBI in BU's three games. He had a huge game against East Carolina on Saturday, going 3-for-4 with five RBI.
Taylor hit .417 (5-for-12) with a home run and five RBI. His two-run blast against George Mason was pivotal in BU's first-ever NCAA victory. His RBI against East Carolina in the elimination game gave him 56 on the season, breaking the school record for RBIs in a season.
The Bearcats placed third at the regional, becoming the first America East team to win an NCAA game in four years and just the third AE team in 14 years to win a game. With its school-record 30th win, BU increased its win total for the sixth consecutive season, the longest such streak in the country.
