BU baseball drops non-conference game at Siena 6-2

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.– Host Siena (10-22) plated five runs in the second inning and went on to a 6-2 win over Binghamton (10-21) in a non-conference game Tuesday afternoon at Siena Field.

Binghamton, which was outhit 12-6, opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second inning. But the Saints answered with five runs on five hits in the bottom of the frame. Siena rapped three run-scoring hits with two outs.

Junior Kyle Klee (Rochester, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 and freshman Brian Ivan (Toronto, Ontario) and junior Tom Baileys (Apalachin, N.Y.) delivered RBI hits. Junior Ryan Holley (Frankfort, Ill.) had a double and a run scored.

Freshman Peter Bregartner (East Islip, N.Y.) went 0-for-4 to end his 14-game hit streak. The streak tied for the longest in BU's Division I tenure (Brendon Hitchcock had a 14-game streak in 2004).

In the midweek contest, BU used five pitchers, with each going either one or two innings.

Binghamton returns home to host reigning America East champion Albany in a four-game weekend series. Friday's nine-inning contest begins at 3 p.m.
