Simek shares Player of the Week award; Charron earns Rookie honors

America East release

VESTAL, N.Y. - After orchestrating a perfect 3-0 week that stretched the team's win streak to four games, Binghamton baseball landed two players on the America East weekly awards ledger.

Senior second baseman Matt Simek (Vestal, N.Y.) and freshman right fielder Joe Charron (Schaghticoke, N.Y.) were honored by the league for their performances. Simek was selected as co-Player of the Week after hitting .667 with a home run and three RBI. He went 8-for-12 and produced a slugging percentage of 1.000. Charron earned Rookie of the Week honors after belting two home runs and hitting .417 over the three-game weekend.

Binghamton heads to Salt Lake City to begin a three-game set at BYU this Friday.
