BU baseball coach Sinicki wins 300th career game

VESTAL, N.Y.– Binghamton University baseball coach Tim Sinicki has hit a milestone early in his 16th year as head coach. With the Bearcats' 8-3 win over Longwood on Sunday, Sinicki recorded his 300th victory.

Sinicki has been named America East Coach of the Year twice in the last three seasons (2005, 2007), and his 2007 Bearcats won the regular season conference title with a 17-5 record. In all, that team won a school-record 28 games and earned America East runnerup honors in the postseason.

His teams have increased their win total in each of the last four seasons, and his 2008 squad was picked to finish second out of seven teams in the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll. His overall record is 300-327-6. In the last four years, Sinicki's teams are 103-96-2 (52%).

During his tenure, 12 players have signed professional contracts.

In addition to the success on the field, Binghamton baseball has earned distinction in the academic arena under Sinicki's charge. His program has maintained the highest grade-point average of any baseball team in the America East for six consecutive years.

Binghamton (3-7) next plays in the Villanova Baseball Tournament on March 14-16. The team opens against Temple at 3 p.m. on Friday.
