Binghamton baseball thumped by Tennessee 19-2
One day after beating Volunteers, BU is 2-hit in defeat

Box Score

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.-- Tennessee (5-4) peppered Binghamton pitching for 19 runs on 21 hits and rolled to a 19-2 victory over the Bearcats (1-5) Saturday night at Robert M. Lindsay Field at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

One day after losing 7-4 to BU, the Volunteers magnified a 2-0 led with nine runs in the third inning. Tennessee then added two more in the fourth and six in the eighth.

Binghamton plated its two runs in the ninth inning on a two-out, two-run triple from junior Pete Bregartner. The shot to right center scored freshman Mike Thompson and junior John Miele, who each had walked earlier in the inning.

The lone bright spot on the hill for BU was sophomore Matt Parker, who went 4.2 innings and allowed one earned run on five hits. He struck out seven and walked just one.

Binghamton wraps up its four-game Tennessee trip with a noon Sunday matchup with Kennesaw State.
