Immediate Release: July 16, 2007 VESTAL, N.Y. - Former Binghamton baseball pitching standout Mike Van Gorder (Vestal, N.Y.) signed a professional contract with the New Jersey Jackals of the independent Can-Am League. He made his debut with the Jackals in a 7- 5 loss to Sussex on July 13, pitching two-thirds of an inning in relief. Van Gorder went 5-3 with a 2.95 earned run average in his senior season for the Bearcats, helping the team capture the America East regular season title. He finished his four-year career No. 2 in career wins (15). He is the sixth Bearcat to sign a professional contract in the last three years, joining Brendon Hitchcock (Amarillo Dillas, 2007), Justin Smucker (Brockton Rox, 2007), Andy Hutchings (New Jersey Jackals, 2005), Aaron Davis (Fullerton Flyers, 2006) and Mathieu Bergeron (Quebec Captales, 2006). |
