LEXINGTON, Va. VMI (2-2) scored five unearned runs in the second inning and went on to post a 11-4 series-opening victory over visiting Binghamton (1-3) on Friday afternoon at Gray-Minor Stadium.
host Keydets sent ten men to the plate against Yannuzzi in the
second frame. A fielding error at shortstop opened the door for
the VMI offense, which capitalized with five runs on four two-out
hits, highlghted by a three-run shot to left by shortstop Kevin
cut the deficit to 5-1 in the fourth inning on a RBI groundout
by Holley, but VMI plated four runs in the bottom half of the
inning to take a commanding 9-1 lead.
The two teams close out their series on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader, slated for 1 p.m.
