BU baseball adds all-star shortstop Warner to program

VESTAL, N.Y. -- Binghamton baseball has added Central New York scholastic standout Lane Warner (Cuyler, N.Y./Fabius-Pompey) to its program for the 2009 season. Warner, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound shortstop, is entering his senior year at Fabius-Pompey. He joins seven other high school players in head coach Tim Sinicki's '09 recruiting class.

As a junior, Warner hit .548 to win the Patriot League batting crown. He was team MVP, first team all-league, second team all-Central New York and a second team All-State selection. Warner also had a .980 fielding percentage.

Fabius-Pompey went 14-3 last spring, capturing the league and Section III championships.

"I am thrilled that Lane has decided to become a member of our program," Sinicki said. "He is an outstanding athlete who is blue-collar, hard-nosed and a tremendous worker. His skills are being developed daily by one of the premier high school coaches (Shawn May) in the state. I truly believe Lane has a very bright future as a Bearcat."
