Binghamton golf finishes fourth at Colgate Invitational

HAMILTON, N.Y.--Binghamton golf shot finished with a final-round 299 to place fourth out of 19 teams at the season-opening Colgate Invitational, played Saturday and Sunday at Seven Oaks Golf Course. The Bearcats, the tournament's defending champions, shot 306-299=605 to come in behind Bucknell (597), Cornell (603) and Rider (604).

Sophomore Jeff Wolniewicz (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West) shook off an opening-round 78 to finish in a tie for eighth place among 95 golfers. On Sunday, Wolniewicz carded a 1-under 71 - the lowest round on the course, and wound up at 149 (78-71), four shots behind medalist Mike Aarts of Lafayette. Freshman Zach Vinal (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) tied for 14th place with rounds of 75-76=151. Sophomore Aaron Ungvarsky (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) came in at 77-75=152 to tie for 21st place, junior Kevin Crawford (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) held a share of 25th place (76-77=153) and junior Brad Moulton (Orangeville, Ontario/Orangeville) posted rounds of 79-79=158 to tie for 51st place.

Binghamton will next head to New Britain, Conn. for the Central Connecticut State Invitational Friday and Saturday at Stanley Golf Course. Last year, BU placed fourth in that field.
