Immediate Release: June 1, 2007 VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton University golfers Jeff Wolniewicz (West Seneca, N.Y.) and Zach Vinal (Syracuse, N.Y.) were selected to the PING New England Division I All-Region Team. The 15-man squad was chosen by members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. Wolniewicz finished his final collegiate season with a 74.3 scoring average. He had a head-to-head ranking of No. 4 in the region. His year was highlighted with a runnerup performance at the Dartmouth Invitational - thanks to an opening-round 67. Wolniewicz also placed fifth at the Yale MacDonald Cup and had six top-10 finishes. It was the fourth consecutive year that he earned all-region accolades. In his junior season, Vinal posted a team-best 74.0 average, and was No. 8 in New England according to the Golfstat head-to-head ratings. Vinal had seven top-10 finishes, including a third-place showing at Yale and a fourth-place finish at both the America East Championship and BU's NBT Bank Classic. The PING All-Region teams consist of the top 15 individuals in their region in the Individual Ranking System. Additionally, any player ranked nationally in the top 75 according to the Golfstat or the Sagarin rankings not included their regions top 15 are added to their All-Region team. Members of the PING All-Region teams are automatically eligible for PING All-America honors, to be announced following the NCAA Division I Championships. |
