tie for fourth at Central Connecticut State Invite NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Binghamton University golf team shot 302-303=605 to hold down a share of fourth place at the 12-team Blue Devil Invitational hosted Saturday and Sunday by Central Connecticut State. The Bearcats finished behind tournament winner Rhode Island (585), the host Blue Devils (589) and Hartford (603). Dartmouth and Army also shot 605. Freshman Jeff Wolniewicz (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West) was the team's low man, tying for sixth among 60 golfers with a 72-75=147. Seniors Joe Kunz (Webster, N.Y.) and Keith Hendrickson (Syosset, N.Y.) each landed at 149 to tie for 12th place. Kunz shot 74-75 while Hendrickson carded rounds of 77-72. Wolniewicz and Hendrickson each collected three birdies in Sunday's final round. Binghamton put all 10 rounds in the 70s to capture the Colgate Invitational last weekend, but this weekend had to absorb three rounds in the 80s at the Stanley Golf Course, which played as a par-72 on Saturday and a par-71 on Sunday. "The boys seemed to be struggling with their swings and confidence this weekend," head coach Nick Lasky said. "We'll try to get it back for Dartmouth (Invitational next weekend). |
