Katz wins back-to-back nominations for America Sky's Golfer of Week award

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Senior Jake Katz racked up his second and third America Sky Golfer of the Week honor in back-to-back nominations this week, the conference announced Thursday. Conference reporting for the week ending October 6th was delayed, resulting in Katz's pair of awards.

Katz earned his second conference player of the week award for the week ending October 6th in recognition of his stellar play at the Yale MacDonald Cup. In this tournament, Katz tallied his eighth career runner-up performance and second of the season with a 2-under-par 138 effort.

This past weekend, Katz led the Bearcats to a fifth place finish out of 21 schools at the Philadelphia Big 5 Invitational. He toured Plymouth Country Club in 1-over-par fashion for the 36-hole event, granting him a third place finish individually out of 111 participants. Heading into the event, Katz secured a No. 96 ranking by Golfweek, his lowest rating of the season.

In only the third week of the player of the week honor, Katz has received all three awards. He currently leads the team in scoring with a 71.6 scoring average.
