Kunz named athlete of the week for second straight week

Junior Joe Kunz (Webster, N.Y./Monroe CC) has been named the University's Athlete of the Week for the second straight week. Last week, Kunz shot 71-75 to top 111 golfers and win the Colgate Invitational. At Bucknell this past Friday and Saturday, he delivered rounds of 71-74 to claim medalist honors for the second consecutive tournament.

The Binghamton record for consecutive tournament wins is held by senior Adam Fuchs, who won the first three tournaments (Elmira, Cornell-Colgate and Yale) last fall. He now carries a team-best stroke average of 72.8. Last spring, Kunz captured the NJCAA Division III individual championship for Monroe CC in Rochester, N.Y.

"Joe played solid golf in very difficult conditions," Affleck said. "On Saturday he had two of the best 'up-and-downs' I've ever seen."
