Bearcats tied for second at Navy Invitational after opening-round 294

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Binghamton shot an opening-round 294 at the 25th Annual Navy Spring Invitational, played Saturday on the par-71 Naval Academy Golf Course. The Bearcats are in a two-way tie for second place with Methodist, four strokes behind leader Towson (290) in the 23-team field.

Senior Keith Hendrickson (Syosset, N.Y.) led the way with a 1-under 70, and currently stands tied for third place among 115 golfers. Hendrickson lowered his scoring average to 72.9 - the lowest average in the entire District I. Classmate Joe Kunz (Webster, N.Y.) carded an even-par 71 and is tied for fifth place. Freshman Jeff Wolniewicz (West Seneca, N.Y.) shot 75 and sophomore Kevin Crawford (Lockport, N.Y.) came in at 78.

The final round will be played on Sunday.
