BU golf concludes fall season with runnerup finish at NBT Bank Classic
St. Bonaventure grabs title with final-round 281 at Hiawatha Links

APALACHIN, N.Y. - Binghamton University golf concluded its fall season with a runnerup finish at the 11-team Binghamton NBT Bank Classic, held Saturday and Sunday at the par-70 The Links at Hiawatha Landing. St. Bonaventure overtook BU in the final round and won the event with a 303-281=584. Binghamton, which held an eight-stroke lead after 18 holes, finished second at 295-293=588. Seton Hall (598), Ottawa (606) and Quinnipiac (609) rounded out the top five.

Senior Aaron Ungvarsky (Wilmington, Mass.) carded a final-round 1-under 69 and finished third in the field of 64 (76-69=145). Junior Zach Vinal (Syracuse, N.Y.) tied for fourth (72-74=146) and senior Jeff Wolniewicz (West Seneca, N.Y.) tied for eighth (72-76=148) to give BU three players in the top-10. Senior Thomas Hackett (Binghamton, N.Y.) tied for 15th after shooting a pair of 75s and sophomore J.J. Shearer (Binghamton, N.Y.) tied for 17th (76-75=151). Playing as an individual, junior Ryan Gabel (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) tied for 17th as well (77-74=151).

Binghamton had an overall record of 74-11 in the fall and captured two invitational titles (Dartmouth and Yale). The team finished in the top four in five of six tournaments.
