Immediate Release: May 20, 2006 ORLANDO, Fla. - Binghamton University golf concluded its season with a 306 in the final round of the NCAA East Regional at the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club. The Bearcats (312-324-306=942) finished 26th in the 27-team field, 15 strokes ahead of Army. The top 10 teams advanced to the NCAA Championship finals. Wake Forest won the regional with a 54-hole total of 864. Senior Kevin Crawford (Lockport, N.Y.) shot 76 to finish tied for 82nd place among 140 golfers (77-76-76=229). Junior Matt Mattingly (Manlius, N.Y.) shot a 1-over 73 on Saturday - the best round of any BU golfer in the tournament. Mattingly wound up tied for 95th (80-78-73=231). Junior Jeff Wolniewicz (West Seneca, N.Y.) shot 77-87-77=241, junior Aaron Ungvarsky (Wilmington, Mass.) shot 78-83-80=241 and sophomore Zach Vinal (Syracuse, N.Y.) finished with 85-87-83=255. |
