GRASONVILLE, Md. - Binghamton University golf eased into its spring season by placing 18th out of 21 teams at the Lacrosse Homes Invitational. The 36-hole event was hosted by Towson Saturday and Sunday at the par 72 Prospect Bay Country Club. St. John's won the tournament with a 580 total, followed by Longwood (592), Georgetown (594), Yale (601), Richmond (602) and Columbia (602) in the top five.
Binghamton shot 314-310=624.
Senior Jeff Wolniewicz (West Seneca, N.Y.) tied for 30th out of 105 golfers with a 77-74=151. Junior Zach Vinal (Syracuse, N.Y.) carded rounds of 74-81=155 to tie for 57th place. Senior Aaron Ungvarsky (Wilmington, Mass.) shot 81-78=159, senior Thomas Hackett (Binghamton, N.Y.) came in at 82-77=159 and sophomore J.J. Shearer (Binghamton, N.Y.) had matching 87s.
Binghamton next competes at the Navy Spring Invitational on April 6-7 in Annapolis.
