BU golfers Vinal, Donovan and Shearer all advance at NYS Amateur
Trio opens match play Thursday morning in New Hartford

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton University golfers Zach Vinal (Syracuse, N.Y.), Patrick Donovan (Oswego, N.Y.) and J.J. Shearer (Binghamton, N.Y.) have all advanced to match play at the 85th NYSGA Men's Amateur Championship, held at Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford. The trio were among the 32 low scores after two rounds of stroke play, and will now begin match play Thursday morning.

Vinal, who reached the semifinals a year ago, was third among the 156 players after shooting a 2-under 140 (71-69). Donovan tied for seventh (72-72) and Shearer was in a tie for 11th (73-73).

The first two rounds of match play are scheduled for Thursday, followed by the quarterfinals and semifinals on Friday. The 36-hole championship will be contested on Saturday.
