BU golfer Vinal earns PING all-region honors
Graduated standout among top 15 in New England

PING all-region teams

VESTAL, N.Y.– Recent Binghamton University graduate Zach Vinal (Syracuse, N.Y.) has been selected to the PING All-New England golf team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced recently. It was the second straight year he has been honored.

The top 15 players in each region were selected, based on the Individual Ranking System. Members of the all-region teams are eligible for PING All-America honors.

Vinal produced a record-breaking senior season for the Bearcats. In 10 tournaments (24 rounds), he held down a school-record scoring average of 74.041, breaking his own mark of 74.043 set in 2006-07. He had six top-10 finishes, highlighted by a third-place showing at the Yale Spring Open (out of 149).

In addition to the PING honors, Vinal and four teammates received all-star honors from the New England Golf Association for their performances at the New England Championship as well as overall results for the 2007-08 season. Vinal was a first team selection. Senior Ryan Gabel (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), sophomores Patrick Donovan (Oswego, N.Y.) and Mike Corbo (Mendham, N.J.) and freshman Jake Katz (Williamsville, N.Y.) each received second team honors.
