BU golf shoots second 295, places fifth out of 27 at Yale Invite
Vinal finishes third out of 149 after shooting 68-76

Final Results

NEW HAVEN, Conn.– Senior Zach Vinal (Syracuse, N.Y.) tied for third among 149 individuals, leading Binghamton golf to a fifth place finish out of 27 teams at the Yale Invitational, contested Saturday and Sunday at the Yale Golf Course. The Bearcats shot 295-295=590, behind only Harvard (585), Skidmore (587), Sacred Heart (588) and Drexel (589) on the 6,749-yard, par-70 course.

Vinal led by one after an opening round 68, but shot a six-over 76 in Sunday's closing 18 holes. Sophomore Patrick Donovan (Oswego, N.Y.) carded an even-par 70 on Sunday, and finished in a tie for 29th place (78-70=148) with sophomore teammate Mike Corbo (Mendham, N.J.), who went 73-75=148. Freshman Jake Katz (Williamsville, N.Y.) shot 76-74=150 and freshman Mike Surdey (Binghamton, N.Y.) produced rounds of 83-78=161.

Binghamton next competes at the New England Championship in Providence, R.I. next weekend.
