Quotes from Binghamton Men's and Women's Basketball Media Day

Men's Head Coach Kevin Broadus

"We are looking forward to this season. It has been a pretty good preseason so far. Guys are working hard. As you guys probably know, we have a team of newcomers and those guys are excited and ready to get going and we are excited as a staff. The administration is excited to put a good solid product out on the floor."

"It's going to be interesting to see who fills the void Mike Gordon left (when he graduated last spring). Dwayne Jackson is a very solid player returning. Hopefully Reggie Fuller can step up and then a couple of the new guys-we need them to step up and be good early on. We can just have them sit back and fit in. Dwayne and Reggie are the most experienced guys and hopefully Jaan can fill in being a senior."

"Jaan and Reggie and Kyrie Sutton are all players we are counting on inside. We are going to start off giving Jaan, depending on how his health holds up, a lot of opportunity."

"Chemistry is something we build on during the year. You don't build on it during the preseason. Reggie, Jaan and Duane will be our leaders early on because they are the most experienced players. They have been here and been through it. We have a lot of new guys but we are going to start off leaning on them."

"We wanted to get better wing players and better back players because when you lose a player like a Mike Gordon or a Richie Forbes, you lose a lot. I had a vision of bringing in really good guards and really good wing players and I think we have a pretty good group heading into the season."

Women's Head Coach Nicole Scholl

"I am very excited for the season to begin this coming weekend. We got a good nucleus of players that are coming back and a good nucleus of incoming freshmen that we are very excited about. I think you'll see that our transition game will pick up this year. We have added some extra speed to the team. I know the players are excited to get going and so I am I."

"The transition period (with the change in coaches) has gone quite smoothly. With our two new additions to our coaching staff, Bet Naumovski and Denique Graves, they fit in perfectly. Bernitha Johnson who was upgrade to our recruiting coordinator has done a great job. The players have worked hard. They have had a great summer and a great preseason so far. I have been very happy with how things have gone the past few months."

"This has been a really fun team to work with. They come in every day. They have a smile on their face. They are working hard. They are willing to do the work this year. With the three returnees coming back, we have great leadership. Erica Carter, Muffy Sadler and Laura Franceski are all ready to go and again, with the five freshman all fit right in."

"We have added some speed in the backcourt along with some depth. Andrea Holmes and Orla O'Reilly will help us with our depth in the backcourt. Laura Franceski and Erica Carter I feel are going to have breakout seasons this year on the offensive end with Laura scoring on the inside and Erica from the outside."

"Defensively we plan on doing a few different things this year. A little more full court press and a little more pressure in the half court to create easy scoring opportunities through steals."

Men's Senior Center Jaan Montgomery

"I think we have a very talented team. Coach has us working hard every day, so we have high hopes and high expectations. We will see how it comes to fruition at the end; we're working hard everyday so hopefully it pays off in the long run."

Men's Sophomore Guard Chretian Lukusa

"I'm excited. I can't wait to start the games. The team's looking really good. We have good chemistry so I have high expectations."

Women's Junior Guard Muffy Sadler

"I think we have a really strong team and we've got a lot of young girls coming in that will help us a lot. With the newcomers and the new coaching staff we're all really excited. It's kind of like a fresh start for everyone."

Women's Junior Guard Erica Carter

"I feel like we have a very deep bench. All of our newcomers are extremely good. We all work very well together and they all match perfectly with the team."
