from the 2004 Men's and Women's Basketball Media Day-
"It's been a great preseason. Everyone has been working hard and there is a great sense of camaraderie within the group. There is also an innate sense that we can be a very good basketball team if we do the little things that we struggled with last year. We must pass the ball better and the guys have been grasping that concept during (individual) drills."
"Our non-conference schedule is really a challenge for us. We are playing some tremendous teams and we have only have two home games in the fall semester. We want to move through the non-conference schedule and get to the conference games knowing that we are a very good basketball team."
"This year, the America East Conference is a very dynamic conference. A lot of teams, like us, return a senior-dominated team."
"We do have some very experienced players. We are mature and experienced and we will rely on that maturity and experience to win some tough games."
"If we keep our turnovers down to 12-13 a game, we will be a very good basketball team because we can rebound the ball."
"We have an unbelievably intelligent freshman class. This by far and away the best freshman class that we have ever had here."
"The Events Center is our home now. We are ecstatic to be here. The environment that Binghamton University has on game night makes this a big-time atmosphere."
Women's Head Coach Rich Conover
"When you lose a player like Kate Townley, who was a great floor leader, it presents a challenge but I think Rebecka (Lindgren) is focused and has working hard to help fill the void. We may not have a set point guard like Kate last year but instead a point guard by committee and Rebecka certainly leads that group."
"We got a lot of experience up front. We match up well with a lot of teams in that area."
"Rachel Laws is a very versatile player who had a breakout season last year. She won't sneak up on anyone this season. When team prepare for Binghamton, they are going to focus on shutting down Rachel. Still, we have the depth and the talent in other areas that will help take the pressure off her."
"This is the truest team that we've had in that everyone has been a leader both on and off the court in certain situations. It will be interesting to see who steps up as a leader this season"
"Last year we learned that the post season is very different than the regular season. You can't take a deep breath and relax once you have earned a high seed in the (America East) tournament. You have to prepare differently for the postseason."
"At the end of last season, we started to feel like the Events Center was our home but this season, we have been here for all of our practices and workouts. We would like to make our mark this year in this building."
